On 25 May 2018, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), aiming to improve data protection for individuals across the EU, replaced the Data Protection Act 1998. The UK has chosen to adopt the GDPR in full. There are substantial changes between the DPA 1998 and the GDPR that organisations and businesses handling personal data need to be aware of and conform with all aspects the GDPR. This online GDPR course is designed to help organisations, businesses and their staff protect the personal data they hold on individuals within the EU. The course includes easy to follow lessons covering key purposes of the EU GDPR, and a set of self-assessment questions to ensure the learner has understood the course. Upon successful completion of the course, learners will understand the role of data processors and the role of a controller and will be able to make essential changes to ensure their organisation or business is GDPR compliant.
